What is Hermes Agent and why people are talking about it
Hermes Agent is an open-source self-learning AI agent from Nous Research (144,655 GitHub stars, MIT license, active development since 2025). Through a Skills System of 118+ built-in skills the agent self-learns after each task: it writes SKILL.md documents, accumulates expertise, and applies it in future requests. Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, which work like a browser tab that resets each session, Hermes Agent is a 24/7 server process: it runs on your server, doesn't sleep, accumulates memory over weeks, and executes code rather than just generating text.
The main point: Hermes Agent is not a LeadUp AI product. It's a third-party open-source tool that we cover as an educational company.
